Here's your local news at a glance for Wednesday, the 5th of November.
Good morning, Williston.
🎓 Education
Williston State College has begun its new Degree Bridge program with Dickinson State University (its first partner), letting students earn a bachelor’s degree without leaving Williston.
The program offers a pathway to a Bachelor of Business Administration with clear steps like coordinated advising (including on-site help) and tuition breaks for a smooth education transition.
School superintendents are concerned that the new $100K fee for H-1B visas will make it harder to hire foreign teachers for long-term roles amid ongoing teacher shortages across the state.
🏛️ Government
On Tuesday, the MHA Nation Emergency Operations Center monitored Washington talks on a government shutdown that could delay SNAP funding and is planning measures to secure food access if needed—Emily Sitting Bear said the tribe will remain in its planning phase until Friday even though no emergency declaration was issued.
