COMMUNITY NEWS

  • First Lutheran Church is celebrating its 120th anniversary with a ribbon cutting event at 4:00 p.m. tomorrow as the Williston Area Chamber of Commerce partners to mark the milestone.  Williston Herald

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Williston Basin School District #7 will repurpose the ASB Building at Williston Middle School Central Campus into the ASB Pre-K Center, scheduled to open in Fall 2026.  Williston Herald
  • Many Handed Childcare Center moved into a larger facility in White Shield to better serve working families and growing demand; the center now has room for 24 children (currently caring for 14) and enrollment applications are open for residents on and off the Fort Berthold Reservation.  KFYR-TV
  • Incoming State Superintendent Levi Bachmeier spoke Tuesday in Bismarck about state education policies and said he agreed with the governor’s veto of a narrow educational savings account bill while noting charter schools can offer ideas that may benefit public schools. He will take over after Kirsten Baesler resigns and said an announcement on his 2026 candidacy may come soon—more details are expected.  KFYR-TV

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Fall colors are expected in North Dakota as warm sunny days and cool crisp nights with enough moisture set the stage — North Dakota tourism has selected top state parks, lakes, and green spaces for the best views. The forecast shows a warm, breezy weekend with possible clouds on Sunday — giving locals one final chance to see vibrant autumn scenery.  KFYR-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Due to high river turbidity, the City of Williston has reduced the water treatment plant’s production to about 2 million gallons per day — well below the usual 6 to 7 million gallons to ensure water safety. The overall system is at 55% capacity, so residents are urged to conserve water until conditions improve.  Williston Graphic
