North Dakotan flight nurse Evelyn Wisner is honored in an upcoming book that details her WWII work saving hundreds on Iwo Jima; author Leah Garrett says the book (The Flight Nurses’ War) will release Oct.
13. Her service is remembered as a vital part of our regional legacy.
🏛️ Government
On Sept. 29, 20 people testified at a 6-hour public hearing at the Grand Williston Hotel + Conference Center about the Homestead Wind Project, which may build 67 turbines on 25,000 acres.
The commission will decide after Oct. 30, with construction planned to begin in 2027 if approved.
🏥 Health
Three N.D. universities will share over $1.3 million in Health and Human Services funding.
Mayville State will receive $437,665 for Head Start projects, NDSU will get $58,000 for FDA research, and UND will receive $835,000 for its Rural Assistance Center for the Office of Rural Health Policy.
