Good morning, Williston. Here's your local news at a glance for Thursday, the 2nd of October.

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Cerilon GTL officials announced that Pembina Midstream will exclusively buy its naphtha byproduct—used for gasoline production and crude dilution. The processing plant near Trenton received major permits last year and will open by the end of the decade.  KFYR-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • McKenzie County commissioners approved a 7% pay raise for government employees and planned to cut over $1.9 million by freezing unfilled positions and delaying construction projects — they met with every department head — and the final budget will be approved on Oct 7.  KFYR-TV
  • The Spirit Lake Tribe announced that essential services will continue despite the federal government shutdown—BIA law enforcement, health care, and schools will remain operational even though programs tied to federal funds will be delayed. The tribe said it reviewed budgets and funding needs in preparation for the shutdown.  KFYR-TV
  • The government shutdown began at midnight Wednesday after Congress failed to pass a stopgap funding bill over health care subsidies, affecting North Dakota agencies such as the Farm Service Agencies by limiting call responses. With about 6,000 federal workers in the state, agencies will change operations if the shutdown lasts 30 days or more as courts, the FAA, and TSA continue their duties.  KFYR-TV
