GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ City leaders in Williston balanced the 2026 preliminary budget by erasing a $16 million deficit and making cuts across all departments—public safety taking the largest hit—and deferring several planned construction projects while setting projected revenue and expenses at $195 million. A public hearing will be held Tuesday at 6 p.m. to review the budget choices, and Finance Director Hercules Cummings confirmed that no city staff will be laid off. KFYR-TV
