ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A wildfire that burned 13,000 acres near Mandaree last October was sparked by high winds pushing overgrown trees into a state-owned power line+ which destroyed one home+ and spread onto parts of the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation before being fully contained with no injuries reported.  KFYR-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Pherrin Township fixed the Road of Shame last week by laying gravel and grading the stretch—this road was known for trapping trucks and cars, and some locals now say the fix has removed its challenge. Some residents warn that frost and thaw may bring back the ruts by spring—officials have not yet shared long-term plans.  KFYR-TV
  • A traffic study on Highway 2 was approved in Williston to check if an extra traffic light is needed—officials will use the study outcomes to plan future improvements.  Williston Herald
  • Williams County lifted the oversize travel ban on CR 17A on September 10th—covering 2 miles east from Hwy 1804 to 110th Ave NW and 1 mile north from 110th Ave NW to 53rd St NW—and now the road is limited by illegal weight.  Williams County
  • At its meeting on Tuesday, September 9, the Williston City Commission approved the first reading of Ordinance 1168—allowing homeowners to expand their front porch space. The change will offer residents more flexibility for future home improvements.  Williston Herald

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • City leaders plan new housing at Williston Square on the former Sloulin Field International Airport site; Black Diamond Estates is partnering with 3 Forks Services to complete infrastructure and start foundations before the end of the building season. Commonwealth Real Estate Acquisitions will build 40 affordable multifamily units pending a tax credit benefit later this year—details on pricing remain to be set.  KFYR-TV
