- ➤ The Williston Community Library will host its 24th Annual Tables of Contents fundraiser on September 7th from 1 PM to 3 PM—an event sponsored by the Library Foundation that supports local services in Williston and Williams County. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A Williston man, Tobias Long, was charged with damaging four headstones at Riverview Cemetery after he drove through the area last August in an attempt to flee police—he crashed into a tree, needed medical care, and is now facing over $30,000 in repair costs with a $5,000 bond while pleading not guilty. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Williston State College is growing fast under President Dr. Bernell Hirning who returned home to help local students earn more degrees close to home. Enrollment rose 16% last fall and 20.5% this spring as the college adds a $28.6 million healthcare training center—supporting dual enrollment and new sports programs. Williston Graphic
- ➤ Saint Joe’s in Williston welcomed its first eighth graders since 1970 today as six students joined the school and attended classes in modular spaces that keep lower and upper grades separate—teachers now offer math courses that give high school credit. KFYR-TV
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Dakota Pheasants Forever has restored over 1,600 acres of grassland by raising $150,000 and securing a $300,000 match to help landowners replant marginal land for wildlife. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Williston will soon host the BIO Girls program, an evidence based 12 session initiative for girls in grades two through six that builds self-esteem through life skills lessons, mentorship, and physical activity— including running and yoga.
