- ➤ An outside investigation cleared McKenzie County Deputy Sergeant Daniel Halonen of wrongdoing over his shooting of Walter Fitzwater, age 65, in Watford City in March—five attorneys from McKenzie, Griggs and Williams Counties agreed no charges should be filed. KFYR-TV
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ In June, oil production increased by 3.5% and gas rose nearly 1.5% as operators resumed full production after earlier cuts; officials projected slight increases heading into summer. Market experts warned that the outlook remains bearish—WTI crude prices may drop below the 60s as supply outpaces demand. KFYR-TV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Williston High School now uses YONDR pouches to lock away student phones and small devices during class as state law requires. Principal Audrey Larson said students can only retrieve their devices with a special timed unlock tool—she expects some growing pains as everyone adjusts. KFYR-TV
- ➤ Williston High School Band will travel to Washington, D.C. next year to perform in the July 4 Independence Day Parade in celebration of America's 250th birthday — marking their third time representing North Dakota and including a city tour of important sites. This trip will give students a chance to experience key landmarks during their visit. KFYR-TV
