ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A garage fire broke out yesterday in Williston, leaving one person evaluated for injuries as fire crews responded to the 900 block of 8th Avenue West and determined the detached garage was a total loss while no nearby homes were damaged and the cause remains under investigation. KFYR-TV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Williams County Sheriff Verlan Kvande said the jail infirmary will be expanded to add six beds and upgrade the area by adding nursing offices and new flooring to better care for inmates with infections and other medical needs; requests for proposals will be issued later this week + a building committee will recommend final approval to the county commission on Oct. 7. - ➤ On Aug.1, Pee Wee’s bill went into effect, raising the minimum traffic fine in construction zones from $80 to $150 to help protect workers after James Wipf was struck by a truck. A new rule also went into effect—drivers can now tint up to 65% of their windows. KFYR-TV

- ➤ Blue Cross Blue Shield ND is offering scholarships to full-time health care students in the state to help ease shortages among primary care and mental health providers. Thirty students will receive $2,500 each and one health care leader will receive $5,000 (applications are open until Oct. 1). KFYR-TV
