Here's your local news at a glance for Tuesday, the 15th of July.
Good morning, Williston.
🏘️ Community
Williston Water World, the first outdoor water park & pool since the Eckert Youth pool closed in 2014, opens today after lifeguards trained during soft openings that gave donors early access.
A ribbon cutting will start at 10:30 a.m. with the grand opening following at 11 a.m. weather permitting.
🚨 Crime
Williston Police asked the public for help identifying a suspect who was seen checking vehicle door handles during thefts that occurred between July 3 and July 9 in Harvest Hills and Sand Creek Estates—citizens with information should call 701-577-1212.
🏛️ Government
Tribal leaders from the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa and Spirit Lake Nation asked for a delay in the upcoming Supreme Court hearing over district lines that could change representation in Belcourt and Devils Lake.
Lawmakers said the ruling—expected within the next two weeks—could impact Districts 9 and 15 and leave one district without a Senator.
🏥 Health
The North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services announced that the measles outbreak is over and that Williams County will follow normal vaccine recommendations—infants now follow the standard shot schedule.
Officials explained the measles case last week is linked to out-of-state travel.
