- ➤ Residents on the Spirit Lake Reservation have not consumed drinking water since May 27 because manganese levels exceeded the safe limit of 0.3 and bottled water was provided while local water was used for cleaning, bathing, and laundry. Crews will begin flushing the water system Monday and officials expect levels to drop below 0.001 with valve and pipe replacements planned + they project a return to full normal use by mid-August.
