- ➤ The City of Williston received 13 applications for a vacancy on the Board of City Commissioners created May 13 that will end in June 2026. The board’s President and Vice President will review the applications and present a recommendation at the meeting on Tuesday, June 24 — the appointed member will serve until the next city election. - ➤ Army veteran John Forthun served in Vietnam at 19, dropping propaganda leaflets in Da Nang as part of Psychological Operations in 1970. Now 74, Forthun—who spent 45 years in the oil fields—lives in Williston with his wife Carrie while caring for their two young granddaughters. KFYR-TV
- ➤ Steven Gutknecht was named Williston’s new Chief of Police by the City Commission during a special meeting on June 5 — his appointment will guide the local police department moving forward. Williston Herald
- ➤ The City of Williston will hold the ribbon cutting ceremony for Williston Care Flight on June 17 at Overland Aviation—guest speakers will include the fire chief and Care Flight vice president Kyle Black. City officials say the new service will restore local air ambulance transportation to help bring critical care to those in need. Williston Graphic
