ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • The North Dakota Highway Patrol said a head-on crash on Thursday night near Max killed a pickup driver who drove the wrong way on Highway 83 and injured two passengers from Williston, and they are asking the public to help identify the 2000 Chevrolet Silverado driver who has been out of contact (call 701-328-2447 or email [email protected] using case 2025003501).  KFYR-TV

CRIME NEWS

  • Joshua Martinez, a Williston man sentenced to life for two counts of attempted murder after firing his gun at officers during a traffic stop, will appeal his conviction as his attorney says evidence was insufficient—no hearing date is set.  KFYR-TV

  • A new mobile bookstore called Reading Between the Lanes is now operating in Williston and offers hundreds of books along with personalized recommendations to rural communities. Owner Nicole Holdaway purchased the former Ward County Bookmobile last December and plans to expand the service to nearby towns.  KFYR-TV

  • A report by a Grand Forks attorney said that former Commissioner Tate Cymbaluk caused problems in the police department after his family’s job applications were turned down—while no fault was found in former Police Chief David Peterson, who stepped down this week.  Williston Graphic

  • Minot and Williston will face off in the Class A state softball championship after Minot won 7-3 over Dickinson and Williston earned its first title game berth with a 7-4 win over Bismarck — Dickinson and Bismarck will play in the third-place game on Saturday.  KFYR-TV
