COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Williston Convention & Visitors Bureau confirmed that the 42nd Annual Fort Union Rendezvous will take place on Thursday, June 12 — continuing a long tradition in the community.  Williston Herald

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Williston Basin School District #7 will launch two summer meal programs in Williston soon — the programs will provide meals to students during the summer break.  Williston Herald
  • The Williston High School Orchestra performed at Universal Studios Orlando on Thursday morning as part of its first-ever Orchestra Tour and will perform today at a Disney workshop at Epcot. The group will also visit theme parks and spend a day at Daytona Beach.  KFYR-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • North Dakota lawmakers approved about 40 studies for the 2027 session and turned down around 20 proposals to focus on key issues. The approved studies will look into topics such as child sex crimes, human trafficking, nuclear and geothermal energy, and emergency service support—while the rejected proposals covered lab grown meat rules and health care in prisons.  KFYR-TV
  • The NDDOT held town hall meetings in Fairfield and Belfield to explain plans for expanding Highway 85 from Williston to Belfield with a new four-lane road. Funding was secured to widen the stretch from south of the Long X Bridge to Highway 200 near Grassy Butte—350 acres will be bought and construction is set to begin in 2028.  KFYR-TV
  • The Williston City Commission passed a new ordinance on Tuesday, May 27 — it sets lower speed limits in construction zones to enhance safety for workers and drivers. The rule will be implemented soon.  Williston Herald
  • An investigation into Chief of Police David Peterson was revealed in an official document that includes formatting notes—officials have not provided further details on the inquiry.  Williston Herald

  • The Williston State College Clay Target Team wrapped up its most successful spring season in the USA Clay Target League after competing against 48 colleges—earning top conference honors.  Williston Herald
