CRIME NEWS

  • The Williston Police Department is asking for help to locate Ayvary Calbert, a 14-year-old girl reported as a runaway on May 27—she is 5’0” tall.  Williston Herald

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • North Dakota’s latest drought monitor shows that 58.28% of the state is experiencing drought, a drop from higher figures seen earlier in May after record rainfall mid-month, but many western areas, dry since last year, still face severe conditions. The seasonal outlook predicts a drier summer, so these regions will need more rain to improve the situation.  KFYR-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Effective today, Marshall Township is closing 125th Ave NW from 62nd St NW going south 2 miles to CR 8 (60th St NW) for culvert installation. Work continues through the weekend and posted signs will guide drivers.  Williams County
  • The Williston Police Department is moving in a new direction after the resignation of Chief David Peterson. An investigative report linked low morale to leadership issues and named former commissioner Tate Cymbaluk, who disputed its findings, while Mayor Howard Klug said a new chief will be selected next month.  KFYR-TV

  • Legacy infielder Drew Beasley returned from hockey in April and has become a key leader for the Sabers as they prepare for the upcoming state tournament — his experience on a struggling team helped him adjust and contribute to the team as a high school player before returning to hockey.  KFYR-TV
