- ➤ On Monday, a pipeline failure northeast of Williston caused roughly 73,000 barrels of produced water to spill into an unnamed creek, and state officials are monitoring the cleanup. KFYR-TV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Williston Police Chief David Pederson will step down effective Saturday after an investigation blamed former City Commissioner Tate Cymbaluk for turmoil in the department — Capt. Steve Gutknecht will serve as interim chief until a permanent replacement is chosen. KFYR-TV
- ➤ Gov. Kelly Armstrong signed bills that require websites with a substantial portion of explicit content to verify users’ ages and impose penalties for nonconsensual deepfake porn, and the new laws will go into effect Aug. 1—legislators also approved a resolution to study the societal effects of pornography.
