Good morning, Williston.
🏘️ Community
Olive Motherhood Foundation has grown from a small group into a nonprofit that connects moms through events like book clubs, bingo, and fundraisers—founded by Williston native Jocci Rice to help mothers feel supported.
The organization plans to keep growing and is looking for volunteers to assist with large events and its community garden.
💼 Business
The Fleur Café opened in the heart of Williston as a dream realized by Qamar Badwan and her sister Laila, serving hand-crafted crepes, waffles, and espresso drinks in a warm space that blends global flavors with local comfort—open seven days a week.
Qamar plans to expand the café’s marketing reach while pursuing culinary school and a marketing degree to boost its growth.
Velvet Vine Charcuterie—founded by Ashley Oyloe and Kelly Soto—creates artful grazing boards that add sparkle and sass to local events in Williston.
The business, rooted in our community, plans pop-ups and collaborations that promise a unique culinary experience.
📰 Economy
Since 2024, Anna Nelson, executive director of Williston Economic Development, has led efforts to transform the city from a boomtown into a balanced community.
The city is building Williston Square—an 800-acre mixed-use project that will eventually offer homes, retail, and medical facilities—and is investing in infrastructure and local business support as demand grows.
🏥 Health
Williston’s Sanford clinic provider Dr. Beverly Tong said the measles outbreak—with 17 cases statewide and 13 in Williams County—has led mothers to seek advice on protecting vulnerable newborns and pregnant women.
She advised that while immunized parents may maintain their routines, babies under six months should be kept home until the outbreak is contained.
