COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The North Dakota Water Education Foundation invites residents to join the Williston Area Water Tour on June 4 as part of its annual summer series that offers a firsthand look at local water resources; more details will be shared as the event approaches.  Williston Herald

CRIME NEWS

  • Prosecutors filed additional charges this week in Tioga against Tyler and Kaylie Langved, who were accused of a murder over $100 and burglary, as they now face a separate robbery charge for breaking into a home and pointing guns at an individual with preliminary hearings set for June 25.  KFYR-TV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The North Dakota Department of Public Instruction is updating its Native American textbooks from the 1990s by partnering with tribal elders, the Sacred Pipe Resource Center, and tribal colleges to add revised tribal history, maps, and a new book for the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate. The department will print 28,000 copies and distribute them to schools, colleges, and public libraries — ensuring students use more current and authentic materials.  KFYR-TV
  • Justin LaBar, a fourth-grade teacher at Stanley Elementary School, was named ND Geography Teacher of the Year by the North Dakota Geographic Alliance.  Williston Herald

HEALTH NEWS

  • Bethel Lutheran Nursing and Rehabilitation Center will build a modern facility at Williston Square later this year (to house 90 skilled care beds and 10 basic care beds) as officials aim to preserve local healthcare jobs. The $72 million project is raising $28 million while also seeking loan funding.  KFYR-TV

SPORTS NEWS

  • The WDA baseball tournament in Williston will be played this weekend at Rabon Field at Williston State College after renovations improved moisture drainage so teams can play even when it rains—crews are still finishing work on fencing and sidewalks. College baseball coach Mason Przybilla said the new turf field keeps home-field advantage intact.  KFYR-TV
