- ➤ Williston Police Department will host its annual bike rodeo on June 4 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Raymond Family Community Center to teach kids bicycle safety while offering a riding course, bike giveaways, free helmet loans, and treats from Creekside Water and Ice—families are encouraged to join the fun as the summer biking season begins. - ➤ Yesterday, city leaders, state officials, business owners and community members broke ground on key projects during Economic Development Week including a $35 million Highway 2 reconstruction near 3rd Ave. West and ceremonies for the Sloulin Drive extension and Pizza Ranch restaurant – these projects mark Williston’s ongoing growth while events continue today with the State of the City Address and Business After Hours celebrations. - ➤ Justin LaBar, a fourth-grade teacher at Stanley Elementary, was named the 2025 North Dakota Geography Teacher of the Year by the North Dakota Geographic Alliance — recognizing his 13 years of dedicated teaching. KFYR-TV

- ➤ The National Weather Service office in Bismarck marked May 9 as the first day of our growing season—defined as the period between the last killing frost of spring and the first killing frost of autumn. Local offices will issue frost advisories and freeze watches when temperatures threaten sensitive vegetation. KFYR-TV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Commissioner Tate Cymbaluk resigned yesterday after serving 16 years on the commission—city officials will soon appoint a replacement as recent threats were noted in correspondence from Mayor Klug. No reason for the resignation was given at the regular meeting. Williston Herald
- ➤ The 8th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled 2-1 on Wednesday that the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa and Spirit Lake Nation lack standing to challenge the state's 2021 redistricting plan, overturning a previous decision that found the plan diluted Native voting power. The ruling means the 2021 map will be reinstated for legislative districts in effect for the 2026 elections—voters now have fewer options to contest alleged racial discrimination under the Voting Rights Act.
