Amtrak said the Empire Builder route is not affected by a reduction-in-force that cuts roughly 450 roles to save $100 million annually—local stops like Williston remain on the route.
The move comes as part of Amtrak’s cost-saving measures from a recent review of its operations.
🏛️ Government
The Williams County Highway Department began developing a Roadway Safety Action Plan on May 8 using funds from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Safe Streets and Roads 4 All Grant Program to reduce roadway fatalities and serious injuries.
The public can provide input via an online survey in May — a draft plan is expected by the end of July with final adoption set for the end of January.
