ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A fire broke out at a Texon-operated oil terminal near Tioga just after 7 a.m. on Wednesday and was fully extinguished by around 10 a.m. with no injuries reported, and the site remains shut down. KFYR-TV
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The deer opener for North Dakota will begin on Nov 7 with 42,300 licenses issued—7,800 fewer than last year. Applicants must apply online by midnight on June 4. KFYR-TV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The ND Ag Department has launched a grant program for fair boards to apply for up to $100,000 to build new infrastructure at county fairs. Applications will be due by May 30 and interested groups can apply online—this program will help county fairs get ready for summer. KFYR-TV
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ District nurse Lynn Douglas was notified Tuesday of four measles cases at Williston High, Williston Middle and Missouri Ridge Elementary and took immediate action to help contain the outbreak. Superintendent Jason Germundson said parents of unvaccinated students were contacted and those exposed must stay home for 21 days— a measure to prevent further spread. KFYR-TV
- ➤ Health officials said measles cases in Williams County have risen to nine, and unvaccinated students and staff in Williston schools were excluded from school for 21 days—vaccination clinics have been set up at 110 W. Broadway today from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., while anyone who visited Walmart on April 29 between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. is advised to watch for symptoms.
