- ➤ Floyd Calvin Miller was named the 2025 Band Day Grand Marshal by the Williston Convention & Visitors Bureau—he first marched as a fifth grader 62 years ago—and will lead the parade at noon on May 10. Williston Graphic
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ North Dakota lawmakers passed House Bill 1298 to raise the interstate speed limit to 80 mph and change the speeding fine system; the Senate approved and sent the bill to the governor. If signed, the updates—including variable speed limits for different conditions and increased fines in school and construction zones—will take effect on Aug 1 (legislators believe the changes will help law enforcement manage speeding better). - ➤ North Dakota Health and Human Services confirmed the state's first measles case since 2011 in an unvaccinated child from Williams County — likely infected by an out-of-state visitor — who is now isolating while HHS contacts those exposed and advises families to review immunization records and get the MMR vaccine.
