CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Two New Town men accused of robbing Black Hills Federal Credit Union in Eagle Butte pleaded not guilty on April 21 and are in U.S. Marshals custody as their trial will begin on June 30 — if convicted they face up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. KFYR-TV
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Tribal officials opened the 2,100-acre Three Affiliated Tribes National Park in the Badlands after the Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation purchased former ranch land near the Fort Berthold Reservation. The park, which held a soft opening in September, now lets visitors explore on foot with free permits and will add trails, a visitor center and restoration projects in the coming months — a move to preserve their cultural and rugged landscape. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Health official Amanda Bakken explained that the rare Powassan Virus can be passed to people by deer ticks and cases usually appear in late spring and summer—people should remove ticks quickly and see a doctor if they have fever, headaches or vomiting. KFYR-TV
- ➤ Sanford Health said it will add pediatric and sports medicine visits to the 11th and Gate Clinic in Williston every third Tuesday starting in May. The clinic, which was acquired last year, will also offer more services like orthopedics outreach and in-person care for high-risk pregnancies. KFYR-TV
