ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • The Williston Fire Department responded at 3:11 p.m. on April 25 to the 3000 block of 31st Avenue West after a balcony fire erupted at an apartment complex.  Williston Herald

CRIME NEWS

  • An Epping man and a Williston woman were arrested last week after police discovered he was selling drugs out of the woman’s garage.  Williston Herald
  • A Williston woman was arrested for tagging a local bank (causing $4,500 in damage) (late last month).  Williston Herald

EDUCATION NEWS

  • House lawmakers did not override Governor Kelly Armstrong’s veto on House Bill 1540, ending plans for educational savings accounts for private school students starting the 2026—27 school year as the override vote fell 48—45.  KFYR-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Friday, lawmakers killed the House bill to raise the fuel tax by three cents per gallon and instead pushed a five-cent increase into the NDDOT budget bill. Forty-seven representatives voted to keep the tax and a conference committee will decide the final amount as supporters say the extra revenue will help fix roads.  KFYR-TV
  • A new law in North Dakota shields Bayer from some cancer lawsuits over its weedkiller Roundup and will take effect on Aug. 1—Bayer hopes its passage will lead to similar laws in other states.  KFYR-TV
