COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Residents have shared ideas to improve the Upper Missouri Valley Fairgrounds after Williams County bought the site on April 7, suggesting fixes to roads, parking, and lighting plus new concerts and motocross events. County officials will work with local groups over the next 12-18 months to upgrade the facilities and support community activities.  Williston Graphic
  • The League of Women Voters provides nonpartisan voter information and meets monthly at the Williston Community Library from 6-7 p.m. on the second Tuesday, welcoming everyone with a small fee that funds voter education.  Williston Graphic

CULTURE NEWS

  • Anthony Morris brings a global music background to Williston by teaching local students how music connects people, drawing from his time at Berklee and his work at Apple (he believes learning together builds community).  Williston Graphic

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Chick-fil-A is coming as the first location in western ND with a development at Williston Square, which also plans a 134,000 sqft Target and other projects including a new school and housing. Highway 2 has finished new permanent striping + wider lanes to support these upcoming developments.  Williston Graphic

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A local group poll shows 65% support for a four-day school week, prompting Williston Basin School District 7 to study its benefits and challenges (including impacts on child care and academics). The feasibility study could lead to changes as early as 2027 to 2028.  Williston Graphic

SPORTS NEWS

  • Williston's 4th Annual Chord Energy Marathon takes place on June 6 at the Williston Basin International Airport with events starting at 6:30 a.m.; runners, walkers, and volunteers will support Upper Missouri Relay For Life + cancer treatment efforts, making each mile count.  Williston Graphic
