COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Area first responders took the court on Thursday, March 26 at the Williston ARC for Hoops for Inclusion to raise funds for the Opportunity Foundation, which aids locals with disabilities. The contest featured teams from the police, fire, and sheriff departments plus free throw contests for families.  Williston Herald

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Williston High School sophomore Jaxson Cowan won first place for his region at the state science fair held at UND in Grand Forks. He will represent the state at the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair in Phoenix from May 9-15.  Williston Herald
  • Lawmakers rejected free school meal bills for 2025 and 2026, and petitioners plan a constitutional measure that may appear on the ballot this November to offer free meals. More details on the measure are pending.  KFYR-TV
  • Central Valley Public School in Buxton was honored on Thursday, Apr. 2 for ranking among the top 10% of state schools in math, reading and readiness. Gov. Kelly Armstrong visited to high-five the students at the celebration.  Williston Herald

  • North Dakota coaching trio helped lead Team USA men's sled hockey to win five straight gold medals at the Milan Cortina Paralympic Games — a historic milestone in Paralympic sports. Their contributions highlight the state’s strong connection to international athletic success.  KFYR-TV
