Good morning, Williston. Here's your local news at a glance for Friday, the 28th of March.

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • North Dakota officially adopted the state waltz Dancing Dakota on March 27 when Governor Kelly Armstrong signed the bill, and singer Chuck Suchy became the state's first troubadour. Suchy composed the waltz during the centennial year to celebrate the state's musical heritage — he will serve as state troubadour for five years.  KFYR-TV
  • Senators heard testimony on a controversial bill that would change North Dakota from daylight saving time to permanent standard time if neighboring states—Minnesota, Montana and South Dakota—vote to do the same, while one amendment would allow permanent daylight saving time if the federal government permits it. The Senate State and Local Government Committee took no action on the proposal.  KFYR-TV
