EDUCATION NEWS

  • The House bill heading to Governor Armstrong’s desk will create an interim committee to study special education funding and offer changes before the 2027 session. Representative David Richter said some school districts have seen big increases in special education students — a trend that may affect how funds are allocated.  KFYR-TV
  • Williston State College has released a survey for a part-time massage therapy program (for night and weekend classes) to see if there is enough interest for an alternative to the full-time option. Professor Wendy McGinley said the survey will help decide if a new schedule can be planned and it remains open until May 31.  KFYR-TV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Starting Monday, lawmakers will resume a hearing on House Bill 1176 for property taxes after its cancellation last week — a measure supported by Governor Kelly Armstrong and top lawmakers. On Tuesday, the House will review Senate Bill 2400 for education savings accounts, on Thursday the Senate will consider House Bill 1498 for teacher signing bonuses, and on Friday the Senate will discuss House Bill 1193 providing $3.5 million for police and corrections hiring — and may vote on defunding Prairie Public.  KFYR-TV

  • Abrahamson Rodeo Company is hosting its 13th Annual Bull Bash on March 22 at 6 p.m. in Stanley—30 bull riders from several states will compete during a two-hour event with bull riding and rodeo clown entertainment.  KFYR-TV
